本劇跨越四十年，探索了北愛爾蘭被稱為“動(dòng)亂”的動(dòng)蕩時(shí)期。以吉恩·麥康維爾的驚人失蹤事件開場(chǎng)，吉恩·麥康維爾是一位十個(gè)孩子的單身母親，1972 年在家中被綁架，從此再也沒有人見過她活著。但麥康維爾只是眾多被稱為“失蹤者”的人之一。
